The Boundary County Motor Vehicle Licensing Department is located at 6447 Railroad St, Suite B, and is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.
Pursuant to Idaho Code, the department is responsible for registering titles for cars, pickups, trucks, motorcycles (on and off road), ATVs, UTVs, motor homes, travel trailers, some utility trailers and most boats. Under Idaho law, the Idaho Transportation Department Division of Motor Vehicles can provide information from its motor vehicle and driving records to requestors for a fee with a signed request under Idaho Code 49-203.
As of July 1, 2009, per Idaho Code 49-401B (1), Idaho driver license or identification card numbers are required for all persons on titles and registrations. Businesses need EIN (Federal ID#). If driver license or identification is not from Idaho, then social security numbers are required.
Currently, the registration renewal notices you receive by mail indicate you are to renew by mail directly to Idaho Transportation Department or use their online service. You may, of course do this or you may certainly continue to visit your local office in the Boundary County Courthouse for more personal service.
Additionally, when purchasing vehicles from dealers you may now use their service for titling and registration or you may continue to do so at your local DMV office. We are happy to help you get it done locally.
The collection of One Person, One Record (OPOR) information is a requirement of law; for those titling and registering their vehicles in our state, it is not an option. The following are excerpts from Idaho Code:
