Airport Board Meeting August 6, 2024

Trey Dail from Ardurra, Dave Parker, Airport Manager.

– July minutes approved

– Slope Stabilization. Trey Dail reported that the contractor is making good progress, but the project will need approx. 3100 additional cubic yards of fill, which will have an additional cost of approx. $20,000. Much of the shortage appears to be due to relocated material compacting more than expected. Grading should be done within a week, additional details will take more time.

– Power Pole relocation, off the South end of the Airport. Tollhouse energy, owner of the power poles, has been unresponsive since June 17. We may need assistance from the Commissioners to urge Tollhouse to respond. The Tollhouse power line is at the top of the poles, Northern Lights has a line lower on the poles. Northern Lights personnel visited the site last week and felt that their crew could bury their power line without any issues. The planning / engineering for both Tollhouse and NLI needs to be done by April 1 to meet the FAA grant requirements for this project.

-No additional private aircraft sized hangar spots are currently available. The first hangar on Hangar Row E (Ashmore) is approved and construction could start soon. The hangar row E Taxiway has not been built, but since this hangar is close to the existing pavement, the owners are willing to deal with the short distance of non paved. Additional hangars on this row can not be built until the taxiway is extended. An FAA grant for taxiway construction is unlikely for several years, we will look into costs for building a gravel/grass taxiway to serve until a grant can be secured; but this would have to be built entirely with private or County funds – so it will be difficult to justify the cost.

-There are 3 existing hangars that need to be removed; Hangars A,B & C, but those sites are allocated or slated for other use. Those hangars need to be removed and a preliminary cost estimate is $5000 for each hangar.

-The avigation easement with Adam Michel is completed.

-Predesign conference with FAA personnel, Ardurra and Dave Parker will be on Aug 12 to
organize expenditures/budget and scheduling for –
AGIS – Flight Procedure data for IFR approach
Design for the Runway Shift to the South
Powerline relocation (IF money can be saved from this project, it may be possible to use some
for residence purchase at the end of the runway.)

Dave Parker, Airport Manager, is looking at feasibility of shifting some annual budget savings toward purchase of a UTV for use on the Airport.
