Riverside Street Reconstruction Notice

Riverside Road will be closed for reconstruction beginning March 30, 2026. During the closure, Lions Den Road to Westside Road will serve as the designated alternate route for the duration of the project.

The section from Westside Road to the Refuge is included in the project area. Motorists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes, and potentially longer at certain times in that section.

Project Notes:
•Work is anticipated to begin near the Refuge office, progress south to Riverside Street, and then continue along Riverside Street to the Deep Creek Bridge
•The work Is scheduled for majority (all year) of the 2026 construction season.
•The parking lot near the barn at the Refuge office will be used for truck traffic during the course of the project.
•The auto tour route is expected to remain open for most of the season. Please check with the Refuge Office for specific closure information.
•Heavy truck traffic PLEASE use the highway north to Copeland Road to access Westside Road north of the project area to enhance safety for everyone.
•If construction continues into hunting season, please contact the Refuge Office for updated construction information during that time.
•Traffic Control operations will be managed by Traffic Corp on behalf of the contractor, Granite Construction.
