Solid Waste

The Boundary County Solid Waste Department is tasked by the Board of County Commissioners with keeping the county clean by collecting and disposing of refuse throughout the county.

NO OUT-OF-COUNTY WASTE IS ACCEPTED. PROOF OF RESIDENCY MAY BE REQUIRED.

The Boundary County Main Landfill is located at 611 Hillcrest Road, and is open 7:30 am to 6:00 pm daily. Last load in the gate at 5:50 pm. The Main Landfill is closed the following holidays: New Year's Day, Human Rights Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteeth, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.

The Solid Waste Department also has three rural monitored public collection sites throughout Boundary County for the disposal of solid waste. Sites are located as followed:
Paradise Valley on Kootenai Trail Road.
Naples on Deep Creek Rd/Old US Hwy 95.
Junction/Copeland on Highway 95 and Highway 1.
All rural monitored sites accept household garbage, recyclable materials, large bulky items, wood debris, metal up to the daily limits. Hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, closed Sundays. The monitored sites are closed on the same holidays as the Main Landfill.

A cleaner Boundary County is good for everyone, and by knowing the laws and ordinances regulating refuse collection, everyone can do their part to ensure that Boundary County stays clean and green. No person shall scavenge or attempt to salvage material from waste delivered to or deposited at a solid waste collection site.

The Boundary County Landfill strongly supports recycling of rinsed plastic bottles & containers, flattened cardboard & paperboard, food & beverage tin cans, paper & newspapers, aluminum cans, film plastics, including bags, bubble wrap, and cling wrap, are available to be recycled at the Main Landfill and rural monitored sites. No styrofoam or glass. Boundary County reserves the right to authorize recycling of materials into the waste stream in accordance with standards and conditions set by Idaho DEQ and the Board of County Commissioners.

RESIDENTIAL
Mixed Household Waste - Up to 600 pounds daily, No Charge. Over 600 pounds, $0.05 per pound.
Wood Waste - Up to 1,000 pounds daily, No Charge. Over 1,000 pounds, $0.05 Per Pound.
Construction & Demolition - Up to 500 pounds daily, No Charge. Over 500 pounds, $0.10 Per Pound.

COMMERCIAL
Mixed Household Waste - Up to 600 pounds daily, No Charge. Over 600 pounds, $0.05 Per Pound.
Wood Waste - $0.05 Per Pound.
Construction & Demolition - $0.10 Per Pound.

RESIDENTIAL and COMMERCIAL
Small Tires (Up to 22") - Without Rims, $2.00 Each. With Rims, $5.00 Each
Large Tires (Semi-Truck Size) - Without Rims, $9.00 Each. With Rims, $18.00 Each.
Oversized Tires (Tractor/Skidder Size) - Without Rims, $45.00 Each. With Rims, $90.00 Each.
Concrete, Asphalt, Rock - $0.06 Per Pound.
Stumps - $0.05 Per Pound.
Large Animals (100+ Lbs.) - $34.00 Each.
Jacuzzi, Boats, Camper Trailers, Truck Campers - $0.18 Per Pound.

Appliances with Freon Decommissioning Fees as Follows:
Window Air Conditioners - $5.00 Per Unit.
Large Air Conditioners - $10.00 Per Unit.
Refrigerators - $10.00 Per Unit.
Commercial Style Refrigerators - $20.00 Per Unit.

RURAL MONITORED SITES FEE STRUCTURE

RESIDENTIAL
Mixed Household Waste - Up to 600 pounds daily, No Charge. Over 600 pounds, goes to Main Landfill.

ANIMALS - Not excepted, must go to Main Landfill.
REFRIGERATORS & AIR CONDITIONERS - Not excepted, must go to Main Landfill.
