Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Supervisor or Landfill Foreman, operates and maintains a variety of complex heavy equipment, machinery and tools used for maintenance, construction and repair of boxes and box sites. Performs all work and duties required to maintain a safe, productive department. FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS. Typical shift, 4 days per week, 10 hour days-open 7 days a week.

Position Functions:

1. Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and tools used by the solid waste department in a safe
manner and following established procedures. Equipment includes but is not limited to bulldozers, graders,
front end loaders, packer truck, dump truck, semi-truck, pup trailer, compactor, sand blaster, snow removal
equipment, chainsaws and other hand and power tools necessary for maintenance, construction or repairs.
2. Performs safety inspections on all equipment used.
3. Performs scheduled and periodic maintenance and servicing of all equipment used and prepare
accurate job-related forms and documents required.
4. Assists shop mechanics with repairs upon request. Performs minor repairs when possible.
5. Assists or fills in for other department employees in whatever capacity required.
6. Directs incoming traffic to appropriate dump sites, determines cubic yardage of solid waste disposed,
and examines cargo to prohibit disposal of caustic waste pursuant to government regulations.
7. Drives truck to distribute oil or water over landfill to control dust.
8. Prepares reports and documents as required by departmental policy.
9. Follows all local, state and federal safety and sanitation policies, rules and regulations.
10. Performs general labor as required.
11. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education / Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess and maintain a valid Idaho Commercial Drivers License Class B; may require Class H and Class N endorsements. Minimum of two years related experience required. Prefer landfill operation experience. Must have heavy equipment operator experience.

Typical Work Hours:

40 hours per week.  working typically 4 days per week-10-hour shifts.  Landfill open 7 days a week.
