Job Summary:

Assists the cook with meal preparation, meal service, cleaning, and upkeep of the kitchen and dining room for residents and guests in a Residential Care/Assistant Living Facility. Responds appropriately to safety hazards, fire/drills and other emergency situations.

Position Functions:

  • Promotes and maintains residents rights.
  • Set tables with beverages, silverware, napkins and condiments needed for meals.
  • Assist cook in preparation of meals.
  • Set up trays and deliver to residents per dietary orders.
  • Deliver coffee carafes, teapots and water carafes to designated areas.
  • Responds to resident requests as needed during service.
  • Cleans tables after meals, removes soiled tablecloths, empty coffee pots and wash dishes using proper sanitization techniques.
  • Empty garbage into the bin outside the facility.
  • Sweep the dining area after meals and spot mop as needed.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen between meal service as needed and nightly.
  • Assist in maintaining records required by dietary staff per state regulations and facility policies.
  • Follow all safety and sanitization protocols as established by County, State and Federal regulations.
  • Reports all incidents and accidents and files incident reports with the Administrator or Admin. Designee.
  • Completes training assigned to meet Rules for Licensed Residential and Assisted Living Facilities in Idaho.
  • performs all other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education / Qualifications Required:

Ability to read and write in English. Follow direction of supervisors. Ability to communicate with residents, visitors, coworkers and supervisors. Must pass criminal history background check, including fingerprinting and pass pre-employment and random drug screening and meet all requirements outlined in the Rules for Licensed Residential and Assisted Living Facilities in Idaho. Must Acquire and maintain a food handlers' card.

Typical Work Environment And Physical Requirements:

Stand or walk up to (8) eight hours a day. Sit up to (3) three hours a day. Occasionally lift or carry up to (20) twenty pounds. Frequently kneel, bend and reach. Exposure to cleaning products, fumes, blood and body fluids.
